Well, it's nearly upon us. Thoughts for the coming season?

Personally, I think Chelsea look best placed at the moment. A lot does depend on how Man utd cope with the departures of Ronaldo and Tevez. Much of the goalscoring is now down to Rooney and Berbatov, who hasn't yet justified his £30M price-tag.

Arsenal have lost their top goalscorer, although they'll be fine upfront if they can keep both Van persie and Eduardo fit for the season (unlikely). Arshavin will be their key man this year I feel. I'd say it's now or never for their young team. For the past few years, it's been "work in progress". That can't go on forever for a club of their standing.

As for Liverpool, they ran Man Utd close last year and are certainly heading in the right direction. Any injuries to Torres will leave the strike-force desperately short though. Hopefully Aquliani can fill the gap left by Alonso, not a task that will be easy. I'm hopeful something can be pulled out of the bag and Rafa can deliver a title a first Premiership title for the club.

I can't quite see Man City breaking in to the top 4 this season. I can also see Hughes getting the sack if he doesn't at least mount a serious challenge to the top 4 though.

I'll be surprised if Hughes lasts the season to be honest. As for City breaking the top 4 - no way.

Yeah, a bad start could see the back of him, I reckon. Even a poor run of results at some point could see the last of him.

With the money they've spent, they should be looking to finish in the top 6. They've made a couple of decent captures in Santa Cruz and Tevez, both proven strikers. With Robinho factored into that, they've certainly got a formidable strikeforce. Adebayor will score a few given chances too.

Liverpool
Chelsea
Man U
Man City
Arsenal
Villa
Spurs

slightly biased look at the table, but its not a long shot to put Liverpool up there. Chelsea unfortunately look solid, and i think those two will battle it out, man u close behind, but out of the chace a few weeks before the end. Man City will do well early, and late but loose key fixtures against the top boys, eventually putting them back in 4. Arsenal ARE still a work in progress imo. i trust arsen, and NEXT YEAR arsenal will be ****ing scary...hope they can claim some silverware though, its been a while. Villa under o'neal will be impressive, turning some good looking results against the top, but talent level isnt quite there..in fact there placing is due more to o'neals supreem coaching skills. Interesting to watch gabbie this year as well, hope he does well and make a good push for england. Spurs will be up a few because they wont shit the bed for the beggining this year, and they've got a great manager, and a solid, squad...look for them to possibly upset my liverpool on sunday, have a bad feeling about a draw, putting us back 2 after 1, but i have faith none the less. beacause of

HE'LL PASS A BALL 40 YARDS
HE'S BIG AND HE'S ****IN HARD

i think we could finish 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th.. but any team could.

as long as burnley go down im happy as ****.. cant see us goin down or even struggling at all this season. i dont keep track of footy as much as i used too only my own team tbh. its all ****ed up now - players demanding too much wages and all the higher transfer fee's its bollox.. some once great teams being driven out.. in away like hardcore with the new bread

If Brian Easton is the standard of player Coyle thinks will keep them up, they're doomed. He was an average SPL player. Steven Fletcher is a good player, although I doubt he's Premiership standard. It's nice to see he's trying a different approach though; as opposed to signing journeymen like Marlon King who seem to float from team to team every season.

Yatesy - what's so far-fetched about Liverpool being in with a chance? they ran Man Utd close last year. Bear in mind Man Utd have lost their best player too...

I think Fulham could have a good season and Id be surprised if Wolves go down.

My money for the drop is on Burnley, Bolton and Hull.
Man Utd or Liverpool I think may win the league. But Villa, Everton and Spurs could all be sniffing around the top 4 and I doubt Arsenal will get that 4th place, they are a team in decline imo. If Fabregas left Arsenal they would be lucky to make top 6.

Im more bothered about league 2 anyway

ya i many have forgotten everton, but as villa, spurs, and city are all legitamite calls for 5-7 and as Liverpool's my team i covieniently didnt have em on my list....they do, unfortunately look quite solid this year, although if they continue the see-saw pattern of the last few years, this season could be disaster...

id like wolves to stay up...the fans deserve it, dont know much about how good they are though, hard to watch the championship in canada on basic cable

well i reckon it will go more like;

Chelsea
rags
Liverpool
Arsenal
Everton
Us (city)
Villa

We have the best strikeforce but we have a mid table defence, should be interesting for a by-stander!

Anywhere above mid table championship is more than satisfying for me! (being a city fan) so im ecstatic with the current situation!

Roll on good times!

Wolves have made a few good signings like Andrew Surman and Kevin Doyle and if people like Ebanks-Blake, Hennessey, Kightly etc can perform they should easy stay up

It's Arsenals year this year.
Selling Adebayor = Good
Selling Toure = Good business especially for £13-15 mil, he barely made Arsenals starting 11 last year.
Also they will be out for like 6 weeks of the Season for the African Cup.

As for Man City having the best strike force? LOL, they have the most forwards but not the best.

Adebayor = Decent
Bellamy = Average
Bojinov = Not so good
Jo = Average
Robinho = Excellent
Santa Cruz = He's okay
Tevez = Good
Wright Phillips = Good

Compare that with Arsenal who have around the same amount if not more
Van Persie = Excellent
Arshavin = Excellent
Bendtner = Average
Simpson = Average (Most likely will be loaned out)
Vela = Good
Rosicky = Excellent when fit
Eduardo = Very good
Walcott = Good
Nasri = Very good
