i agree as well. there was more originality and creativity in the tracks at its peak, and there was also more speed. at that time prog trance was about the most energetic stuff out there i miss those days (besides hardcore of course!).
it's starting to sound all the same 2 me now seems like they are all running on a very similar formula. is unforgettable hope the cube::hard remix considered trance? because that track is still amazing and pretty much nothing in trance has topped that to me since that came out!

The last good year for Trance was 2001. It's gone downhill ever since and now it just all sounds pretty much identical.

Well i hate Electro and that is the biggest problem with recent Trance, far too much Electro influence! I am actually a big Trance fan, for the period i mentioned. It's truly amazing music and is pretty special to me. I could link you to a load of tunes but i mean if you were going to agree you already would no doubt, as i assume you've already heard alot of it. As for the sub genres sounding the same, i never meant that they sound the same, i was talking about just straight forward Trance.

I hate all things electro too. There isnt really such thing as straight forward trance... I guess you're meaning "uplifting" trance?
Trance is so diverse plenty of good stuff to listen to. People who listen to trance & hardcore always seem to moan about how good it was. Its them that never seem to progress/move on...

Well i talk about how good it was because it was that good for me. It's not the same genre anymore so there would be little point listening to it just for the sake of it, i can just as easily not listen to it so i don't. I have no doubt that there is the odd good tune out there. It's not just Trance though, it's true for pretty much all electronic music for me at the moment.

You mean how almost every trance track seems to have the same percussion, same lead saw (I think) synth with an absurd amount of reverb/delay/echo on it, and almost identical structure?
Hard trance certainly still seems to be banging along though.
