I think it's quite controversial... Does it really cost 500 for each track to master properly? Not even the Big labels master properly, so why should we? =P
I got 1 or 2 re-mastered album that sound horrible, one being The Offspring - Smash remaster from 2008 i think

What?
Just because you have one or two shitty mastered albums does not make the whole mastering profession void.
If you look at old vinyls that have been digitally remastered to CDs and film that gets digitally remastered they actually do some amazing things, and it sounds shit loads better.
Not to mention, the VAST majority of commercial msuic that gets released nowdays is mastered pretty ****ing well and sound very professional.
