Im in Brighton with my girlfriend and I was just wondering, what do you all think is the best seaside town in Britian?
British seaside resorts grew up in the late 18th to 19th centuries as health resorts for the rich and wealthy. The middle classes arrived in the mid 19th century when the railways arrived and the working classes received holidays after the 1870s when new laws where passed allowing people time off work.
Most British resorts where sentered around the beach and pier and had entertainment for everyone. Most had grand regency and victorian buildings and where impressive places to visit. Some towns where huge while others where small, the largest being Brighton, Blackpool, Bournemouth and Southend-on-sea. I have visited many and love them, I feel a sense of goodness when I visit them. I have fond memories of visiting Torquay, Eastborn & Swanage when I was younger. I live in Poole which is next to Bournemouth, one of the greatest seaside towns on the south coast. I have also visited Santa Monica in California which is similar.
What seaside towns do you you like to visit? Im looking forward to the summer where I hope the weather is good where I hope to go down Bournemouth beach & visit Brighton again and maybe a day out in Swanage.

Did you start this topic just to tell people you have a girlfriend?

I didn't start to the topic to mention my girlfriend (I will start another topic for that lol) but I say the greatest I have been to are the 3 Bs (Bournemouth, Brighton & Blackpool) and also Southend, Eastborne and Southport, Merseyside (Formally Lancs).
I have also been to Swanage, Weymouth, Southsea (Portsmouth), Worthing, Bognor Regis, Clacton-On-Sea & Scottish resorts such as Largs, Rothesay (Isle of Bute), & Ayr, all in Ayrershire.

Cornwall is nicer than any of the afformentioned places as there is so much nice scenery and coast in such a small space.

Nah but your the only person who's really mentioned anywhere thats particulaly nice. Personally i consider a good coastal town one that isn't overly commercialised.
