Yea, the Pope saw a business opportunity 1500 years ago and desided to use it :P Just because businesses try to cash in on it (like they do on every single other holiday), doesnt make it any less a proper holiday. As long as you stay true to the day, its also free. People like holidays, it gives an opportunity to celebrate. To have something different from every other day. If you dont want to celebrate the day, thats perfectly fine. But if you do, make breakfast to your wife when she wakes up, make a card yourself (like its supposed to be done), just have a day for you two. Remind her of the things you love about her. Thats what the day is about.

Oh i'm totally for rebellion myself :p Valentines day isn't just "what some tit says on tv" and its not just for women either. Its a big ego boost for both sexes. Nothing wrong with an extra boost for 1 day a year I'm sure.
As much as the other halves know how much they mean to us, its nice just to reinforce what they already know, and for the price of a cheap tacky card, and a teddy with a heart, am sorry, but, I give in. I'd do anything to let him know how i feel about him tbh. My rebellion can be saved for better, less personal things :p

sorry, may have come across the wrong way. What I'm saying is why should there be a designated day for it?
a) It's almost saying that we can forget about it for the rest of the year. Screw that. If a guy can't make a girl feel particularly special on more than one day per year and when they are not expecting it, then they don't deserve her.
b) It has lost any meaning it might have had through commercialisation. If you want a day that means something, have your own valo day a week or two before or after or six months later.
