Just finished The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold - saw the film advertised and thought i'd check the book out first - and really enjoyed it, and now i'm after something new. Going to be without internet for a few weeks and need something to entertain myself, so what is everyone reading or what would you recommend? Can't be doing with Celebrity Autobiographies, but i'm open to anything else, so please fire away.

Just checked Amazon to see if it was available, 98, haha don't think so. Might see if my mum can find it next time she goes to the library.

Haha high-brow ;)
I thought it would be, the trailer looks really good. Had you read the novel before hand?

Nah I hadn't. The mrs had read it and said it was really good though, that's why we ended up going to see the film. May have to grab the book off her if she still has it.

Check out Gomorrah by Roberto Saviano if you haven't yet: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gomorrah_(book) It's crazy, and the most terrible thing is that it's all real. It's a journalist (R. Saviano) who writes about the Mafia and what they do, and he also gives names. Now he has a new identity because the Mafia is after him! (because he wrote the book) It's very interesting, definitely worth checking it out :)

You should. It's definitely one of the best books i've read, for what it's worth.

Cheers Revs. I'm more into fiction really, like to get caught up in the story.

Well it is a story actually, it's written like one and everything, just that it really happened! But yeah, no worries :)

Dead Shot: A Sniper Novel - By Jack Coughlin
Really good book if you're into military, etc. I'm a big fan of military stylized fiction, I love Science Fiction (Mass Effect, the Halo books NOT the games), etc.

As ridiculous as it sounds i've never read The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe before, never thought of it. Cheers Iono.
@Revs: Too real. I need a bit more fantasy in a book or i just can't get into it. I like how, with a bit of imagination but without really trying, reading a book can take you to a completely different place, if you know what i mean. Narnia seems as good a place as any.

Right now I'm reading 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. I'm supposed to read it as part of my curriculum (at least I'm enjoying it :P). After I'm done with it I plan on going on a Greg Egan spree (starting with Axiomatic).
